A fifteenth century leaf from a Psalter containing Psalm sixty-seven and sixty-eight. Handwritten on vellum in brown and red ink in gothic script, in Latin.

 

The recto contains one column of twenty-one lines, beginning half way on Psalm sixty-seven on line twenty-five, “ingressus Dei mei, regis mei, qui est in sancto” and finishing on line thirty-two “Venient legati ex Egypto; Ethiopia praeveniet manus ejus Deo.” The recto having eight single line rubricated initials in blue, red, and liquid gold, pen flourishes in red and blue, and red and blue line fillers.

 

The verso also has twenty-one lines to one column, and continues Psalm sixty-seven from line thirty-three, “Regna terrae, cantate Deo; psallite Domino; psallite Deo.” Psalm sixty-eight begins on line fourteen of the leaf, beginning with a highly illuminated initial ‘S’ over seven lines, decorated in liquid golf, red, bllue, green, with floral motifs, “Salvum me fac, Deus, quoniam intraverunt aquae usque ad animam meam.”

 

The verso having four single line rubricated initials in blue, red, and liquid gold, pen flourishes in red and blue, and red and blue line fillers.

 

In very good condition, the vellum is bright, the ink on the script has slightly faded, very minor rippling, and marks to vellum.
