Two works in one volume. Both second editions. Both inscribed “From the author” to the title pages. Bound in contemporary calf, red morocco title label to spine, lettered gilt. A near fine copy, some wear to the joints, but sound and holding.

Thomas James Mathias (1754-1835) was “the best Italian scholar since Milton” (DNB). He was a Fellow of Trinity College Cambridge, and a librarian at Buckingham Palace.
