A complete set in the original parts of Walter Crane’s masterpiece, and one of the most attractive editions every produced of Spenser’s Faerie Queene.
One of 1,000 sets printed on Arnold bleached handmade paper. Nineteen parts. Quarto. All in the publisher’s original pink paper wrappers. Publisher’s notices advertising the forthcoming parts tipped into each volume except the seventh. Directions to the binder and a printed note of thanks from the publisher tipped in to the final volume.
A good set. The wrappers are rather worn in the main, with occasional stains and marks. Spine wanting from the second volume. The final volume has long closed tears to the upper wrapper which have been repaired. All volumes with japanese tissue repairs to the hinges.
One of the finest examples of 1890s book production. Sets in the original parts are uncommon.
