A highly decorative exhibition binding by Zaehnsdorf.

 

Number 8 of 63 copies printed on Japanese paper signed by the publisher David Nutt. Large octavo. Bound in full red morocco, covers extensively tooled in gilt with tendrils and foliage within a double line borders, spine similarly decorated, gilt decorated turn-ins, red silk doublures. Signed by Zaehnsdorf in gilt to the front inner dentelle, and also with their blindstamp showing a binder using a backing hammer to the rear pastedown, indicating that this is an exhibition binding.

 

A near fine copy. Slight rubbing to extremities, particularly the spine.
