First edition. Octavo. Publisher's green cloth, lettered gilt, in the original dustwrapper.

A near fine copy, bookseller's ticket to front pastedown, in a very good, price-clipped dustwrapper, spine slightly faded with some wear to the spine ends.

The first edition of Seamus Heaney's first commercially published work. Death Of A Naturalist announced Heaney's arrival as a major poet, and was preceded only by Eleven Poems, published the year before at Queens University Belfast. It would go on to win the Eric Gregory Award, and many others.
