A land deed of ‘Henricus Dormersfeld’’ (Henry Dormersfeld) granting land to ‘Ric[hard] Garmind[?]’ (Richard Garmind[?]) an ‘Joh[ann]i Taylo[ur]’ (John Taylor) in ‘Wynkefeld’ (Winkfield, Berkshire), on 17th May 1394, Reign of Richard II.
88 x 265 mm, nine lines in anglicana on parchment, partial red wax seal attached to document on a parchment tag, medieval endorsements including ‘Wynkefeld’ and later nineteenth century endorsements ‘17 Richd 2n 1394’.
Witnessed by ‘Joh[an]e Loynefeld?, ‘Joh[an]e Stretende’, ‘Will[elmo] Martyn’, ‘Joh[a]ne Stevene[?]’ and others.
The street ‘Crouxlane’ is mentioned, possibly Crouch Lane, Winkfield, Berkshire. A very good example. Creases to parchment from being folded, spots of ink, wax seal partially broken, darkening to the parchment at the back of the deed.
A wonderful piece of local history to Berkshire.
