A single leaf on parchment, c. 157 x 101 mm, recto and verso with the labours and zodiacs for July and August. July depicts the zodiac of Virgo, a young woman and the labour of harvesting. August depicts the zodiac of Leo, a charmingly illustrated lion, and the labour of threshing. On both sides, the miniatures are framed in a three-quarter border of acanthus leaves and foliage in pinks, red, white, and blue, c. 36 x 27 mm (zodiac), c. 31 x 46 mm (labour).
The leaf is written on thirty-two lines in brown ink in a gothic textualis script, headers and important feast days in red ink, line fillers in gold on blue and pink grounds, with two one line ‘KL’ initial in burnished gold on pink grounds.
The text contains lots of common Saints found in French calendars. A very good example, rubbing and minor paint loss to the borders and miniatures, four small spots of previous mount glue to the verso, one securing a small hole, parchment a little worn, short chip and tear to boarder. The leaf has been trimmed with minor loss to the border illuminations, the miniatures remain unaffected.
