A new, illustrated edition, with over 500 illustrations. Five volumes. Quarto. All bound in contemporary quarter green morocco over green pebble-grained cloth by De Decker-Lemaire of Ghent.
Over five hundred illustrations by multiple artists, including Emile Bayard’s famous study of Cosette to p. 197 of the first volume, and others by Alphonse de Neuville, Gustave Brion, Jean- Paul Laurens, Edgar Morin, Daniel Vierge, Adrien Marie, Eugène Delacroix, Edouard François Zier, Henri Vogel, Léon Benett, Fortuné Méaulle, and Martin Lanseval.
A very good set, the upper cover of the first volume is grazed, with some abrasion to the cloth, and there is a little rubbing to the head of the spine of the first volume. Some foxing throughout.
