Four Latin schoolbooks owned by Michael H.R. Tolkien, all with his ownership inscriptions, and a couple of marginal annotations. All in the publisher’s original paper wrappers, or paper covered boards. Michael H.R. Tolkien’s onwership inscription to three upper covers, and additionally inscribed by him in three volumes in red ink, dated between 1956 and 1957 and located to Solihull School, where he taught Latin. Generally in very good condition.
 
PROVENANCE: Michael H.R. Tolkien (1920-1984), with his ownership inscription to each volume. The first volume dates from his time teaching at Ampleforth, and the other three all come from his time teaching Latin at Solihull.
