A single leaf fragment on parchment, c. 380 x 396 mm, with a six line red initial, decorated with a geometric pattern in purple to the recto, and a six line black ink geometric initial to the verso.
Ruled in lead point, c. 372 x 271 mm (visible), with music in square notation on five-line staves ruled in red with lyrics in black ink in prescissa script and rubrics in red.
The decorated initial to the recto opens the cantus, ‘Nobilissimis siquidem natalibus ortus velut lucifer Nicolaus emicuit’, (‘Indeed, born of the noblest birth, Nicholas shone forth like a morning star’). A good example of an antiphonal leaf, the margins have been significantly cropped with text loss, some water damage, some discolouration to the parchment, possible touch up to the red initial at a later date.
