Octavo. Vellum envelope binding with manuscript names to front, and London Provincial Bank Limited embossed in gilt to the back. Internal pocket to upper cover containing a collection of handwritten and printed recipes, as well as a Civil Defence Duties (Compulsory Enrolment Order), 1941. Handwritten recipes and War Economy recipes pasted in.

A very good example. The vellum binding is stained and the cloth opening is damaged but still working. The letters and pages contain signs of use.

A family, most likely a mother and a daughter, collections of recipes that dates from 1899 to 1941. This serves as a tender piece of social history as England entered a period of war.
