First edition with Appleton Clark’s illustrations. Quarto. Bound in the publisher’s red cloth, lettered and decorated gilt, with pictorial onlay to the upper cover, in the rare printed dustwrapper.

A near fine copy in a good dustwrapper. The wrapper is worn and torn, with a couple tape repairs, but the book underneath is clean and attractive. Contemporary gift inscription to front free endpaper.
