First India Paper edition. Octavo. Publisher’s black cloth, lettered gilt to the spine, to the upper cover is an illustration by Tolkien of a Numenorean throne, with “Elendil” set in Tengwar to the centre, in gilt, silver and green. Housed in the original publisher’s slipcase.
A very good copy in a good slipcase. There are some marks to the covers, and some slight sunning to the spine. Internally there is foxing at the beginning and end of the book. Slipcase rubbed.
